Strolling and cultural discovery in Nantes
- 9am - You arrive at Nantes train station. A good time to start the day 😊
- 9h10 - Stroll through the superb Jardin des Plantes opposite the station. Be careful, you'll need to exit on the Gare Nord side!
- 10h - A short walk to the Château des Ducs de Bretagne, built at the end of the 15th century, and a visit to the château and its museum if you wish.
GOOD TIP: the "Le voyage à Nantes" tourist office is just opposite the château, and can sign you up for tours of the city.
- 11am - Embark on a tour of the city center - taking in the historic Bouffay district, the Passage Pommeraye, Place Royale with its famous Graslin fountain... Take your time! Take a stroll 😊
- LUNCH - Let yourself be tempted by the many restaurants in the city center, or pack a picnic and enjoy lunch on the banks of the Loire.
GOOD PLACE DESSERT/GO TASTE: Visiting Nantes without stopping by La Fraiseraie ice cream parlour would be an insult! Treat yourself to a strawberry vanilla ice cream in a cone or jar! A true benchmark in Loire Atlantique, as the strawberries come directly from Pornic and are excellent!
Nantes through history
- 3pm - Take the navibus from Gare Maritime de Nantes (free at weekends) to discover the famous fishing village of Trentemoult. Now's the time to take some pretty pictures, as this little village has the particularity of very colorful facades. In summer, there are plenty of restaurants where you can enjoy a drink on the banks of the Loire. It's quite pleasant 😊
- 5pm - It's off to the Nantes Natural History Museum! A truly amazing museum for children and adults to discover, with stuffed animals from all over the world, live snakes...
